Pole Dancing – A Great Way to Get Fit

Okay, so you didn’t listen to me and you went ahead and made a New Year’s resolution anyway.  ;)   And if you are like most people, your resolution probably has something to do with losing a few pounds, toning up, or being healthier.  Pole dancing is fabulous way to accomplish this… it’s exercise disguised as fun!

Now don’t let this scare you, but pole dancing is much harder than it looks.  All those girls you see flying around poles on YouTube may look weightless but I can assure you that they are very aware that they are NOT weightless!  Pole dancing is a great workout that you can start at any fitness level and will whip you into shape in no time.

weightsPole dancing is truly a full body workout.  Of course, you will build upper body strength quickly because you learn to lift your body weight as you dance.  I mean, when is the last time you went to the gym and lifted your body weight in dumbbells???  Your lower body will get a workout too from your sexy squats, pole sits, and inverts. 

But what most people don’t know is that pole dancing is an absexcellent core workout.  Lifting your legs and holding different positions while dangling from your arms gives you a great workout in your abdominal muscles, obliques, and back.  You’ll be sore in muscles you didn’t even know you had! 

At the same time, pole dancing helps with flexibility.  This combination of stregthening and stretching creates lean, toned muscles without the bulk.  Also, as you increase your lean muscle mass, your metabolism will increase and the fat will burn off faster and easier.  It’s like a snowball effect of good stuff!

If you are already a pole dancer, you are probably nodding your head in agreement.  If you haven’t tried pole dancing yet, there is no better time to start than now.  Plus, where else can you exercise in platform high heels???  :D

I miss pole dancing sooooo much, but with a bun in the oven I have to wait until I deliver. It truly made a huge difference in my body.
